A community-run bridge between Canada's communities of service and the research about them.
Research that touches Veterans, still-serving members, public safety personnel, and their families has lived behind closed doors for too long — fragmented across universities, scattered across email lists, and rarely visible to the people whose experiences shape the work. Horizon exists to change that.
Who Horizon is for
Throughout the site we'll often use the shorthand "communities of service" — it's a single phrase for the four groups above. |
Our principles
- Open access. Anyone can browse. No accounts, no paywalls, no waiting lists.
- Plain language. Every study is summarised so you can decide quickly whether it's for you.
- Member-led. Listings are curated with input from the communities the research is about.
- Independent. We are not affiliated with any single institution or funding body.
| A note on safety Every study listed is approved by a Canadian research ethics board. If a study or experience ever feels off, you can withdraw at any time. If you're in distress, the VAC Assistance Line is open 24/7 at 1-800-268-7708; public safety personnel can reach Boots on the Ground at 1-833-677-2668. |
